Well Being Support

Pupil and parent well being is the heart of everything we do at St Chad’s.

At St Chad’s we see the happiness and mental health of our children as our main priority. We aim to provide children with the opportunities to develop their understanding of their own feelings, develop coping strategies, find their happiness through passions and know how to support their peers.

myHappymind

At St Chad’s Primary we are proud to be a myHappymind school!

As a whole school programme grounded in science and dedicated to building positive mental wellbeing, myHappymind helps children understand how their brains work and creates a culture that helps to build children’s resilience, confidence, and self-esteem. myHappymind also teaches the children how to self-regulate and manage their emotions in stressful times, allowing them to be their very best selves!

myHappymind Module Descriptions

Meet Your Brain: Understanding how your brain works and how to ensure we look after it so that we can manage our emotions and be at our best. Growth mindset is a key part of this too.

Celebrate: Understanding your unique character strengths and learning to celebrate them. This is a fantastic module for building self-esteem.

Appreciate: Understanding why gratitude matters and how you can develop gratitude as a habit. Gratitude is key to well-being and resilience.

Relate: Understanding why positive relationships matter and how to build them. We’re focused on the building blocks of good relationships and friendships.

Engage: Understanding how to set meaningful goals that matter and how to stay resilient in times of challenge. This module is all about building self-esteem and resilience too.

Parent/Carer App

Not only is myHappymind used in schools to support children’s well-being, it can also be used at home too. The parent app is designed to give parents and carers an insight into the work the children are doing as well as supporting parent’s well-being by developing strategies that work at home too.

Forest School

At St Chad’s we see the importance of developing the whole child which includes providing opportunities both in and out of the classroom. We take great pride in saying that every child at St Chad’s takes part in our Forest School curriculum from Nursery to Year 6. In our Forest School, children are provided with the opportunity to: connect with and develop a love of nature and therefore create a sense of ownership and pride in their world, take supported risks and problem solve which develops their self-esteem and provides a sense of achievement outside of the classroom, learn and develop social skills through play with peers, develop resilience and spirituality through going out in all seasons and seeing the beauty of the world we live in.

Our Forest School curriculum’s main aim is to holistically develop every child to create happy, resilient, confident children with a strong sense of self, cultural capital and love of their environment and instilling our school values: kindness, honesty and faith.
