EYFS Curriculum
Welcome to the Early Years Foundation Stage here at St. Chad’s CE Primary School where we firmly believe in the overarching principles of the National Early Years Framework:
- Every child is a unique child, who is constantly learning and can be resilient, capable, confident and self assured.
- Children learn to be strong and independent through positive relationships.
- Children learn and develop well in enabling environments with teaching and support from adults who respond to their individual interests and needs and help them to build their learning over time. Children benefit from a strong partnership between practitioners and parents/carers.
- Children develop and learn in different ways and at different rates. The education and care of all children, including those with special educational needs and disabilities, is covered by the Early Years Foundation Stage framework.
Department for Education 2021
We aim to work in partnership with parents to ensure the best start to school life for each and every child, promoting a sense of belonging to our school community and a life-long love of learning.
Our Nursery and Reception staff work together to deliver an exciting and engaging curriculum to each class that is child-centred and led by the children’s own interests and fascinations. It is flexible, progressive and determined to ignite curiosity, spark creativity and celebrate the wonderful differences that make every child unique and important.
Our curriculum is based upon these 7 areas and is designed so learning is focused around high quality texts that will stimulate language and vocabulary development; communication and language is at the heart of everything we do.
Together with the knowledge of a range of pedagogies and an understanding of the benefits of learning through play, we do all that we can to allow every child to thrive and be ready for transition to the National Curriculum at the end of their time in Reception.
