Enrichment and CU

Enrichment

At St Chad’s we are passionate about developing the ‘whole child’ and recognising additional time spent learning outside of national curriculum subjects. With this in mind, in September, we will be launched Children’s University and an updated enrichment curriculum.

Children’s University

Children’s University is a charity that works in partnership with schools to develop a love of learning in children.“We do this by encouraging and celebrating participation in extra-curricular activities in and outside of school. The impact of these activities is proven to be positive which is why we’re committed to creating a level playing field of opportunity and opening up access to children of all backgrounds.” Children’s University

We are proud to be part of the Children’s University™ Scheme which aims to raise aspirations, celebrate and boost achievement and foster a love of learning, so that children can make the most of their abilities and interests. On the portal, children will be able to log their additional learning hours by adding stamps to their online passport to learning.

Children can earn certificates and badges along the way, as well as attending awards celebrations.
There are 3 golden rules to accrediting learning hours:
1) Voluntary 2) Above and beyond the curriculum 3) Structured learning activity

The first level children will begin on is called the Award Level, part of the Undergraduate group, which includes:
30 hours = Bronze Award certificate / 65 hours = Silver Award certificate / 100 hours = Gold Award certificate
See the diagram below for the whole award structure.
